B6 · RULES AS PUBLISHED, WITH DATES
JetBlue carry-on and checked bag rules
What JetBlue publishes for a cabin bag, a personal item and a checked bag, read from the airline's own pages. Each rule below carries the date it was last checked, and anything the airline does not state is shown as a gap rather than filled in.
Size and weight limits
Measurements are shown in the units the airline publishes. Where the airline counts handles and wheels, that is spelled out, because it is the difference between a bag that passes the sizer and one that does not.
| Item | Maximum size | Maximum weight | What the airline adds | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carry-on | 55.88 × 35.56 × 22.86 cm (22 × 14 × 9 in) | no weight limit published | 22 x 14 x 9 inches including wheels and handles, and it has to fit in the overhead bin. Every fare includes one carry-on, space permitting, plus one personal item. | source 2026-10-09 |
| Personal item | 43.2 × 33 × 20.32 cm (17 × 13 × 8 in) | no weight limit published | 17 x 13 x 8 inches. The airline's own examples are a purse, a daypack, a laptop bag or an approved pet carrier, and it has to be placed all the way under the seat in front of you. | source 2026-10-09 |
Checked bag fees
Prices depend on the fare you booked, the route and when and where the bag is bought, so the fare context stays attached to every figure. The table names each price the way that airline names it.

| US / Latin America / Caribbean / Canada, Main — off-peak dates This airline publishes two prices keyed to when the bag is bought, not to the counter used. The lower price needs the bag added at least 24 hours before departure on jetblue.com or in its app; added later, or at the airport, it is the higher one. Every date the airline does not list as peak is off-peak. A third or further bag is USD 200 each, and a bag of 51–99 lb (23.13–44.91 kg) or 63–80 in (160–203.3 cm) adds USD 150. |
USD 45 online, 24+ hours before departure USD 49 within 24 hours, or at the airport |
USD 59 online, 24+ hours before departure USD 69 within 24 hours, or at the airport |
22.68 kg 62 in (157.48 cm) total, wheels and handles included |

Every other date is off-peak. The same timing rule applies to both prices: the lower one needs the bag added at least 24 hours before departure. |

If your bag does not fit
- Measure the bag, not the case. Include wheels, handles and anything strapped on.
- Compare against the smallest limit that applies to you. A bag that fits the overhead bin can still be too big for the space under the seat in front.
- Decide before the airport. A bag bought for the hold is cheapest added early, and a bag refused at the gate is the most expensive version of the same bag.
Check your bag against JetBlue and every other airline we cover, or see what a checked bag costs across airlines.
What this page does not claim
- It is not the airline's rulebook. If JetBlue's own page disagrees with anything here, the airline is right and this page is out of date.
- It does not cover every fare family, route or loyalty tier JetBlue sells.
- It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any airline. The name is used only to identify whose published rules are being described.
